These pages were created within the framework of the project ŤOrnamental Trees and Shrubs in Croatiať (2002-065) of the Croatian Ministry of Science and Technology.
Ornamental Trees and Shrubs in Croatia is an electronic handbook which is to serve primarily in education of forestry engineers. Apart from that, it will also be of great use in the education of other experts for whom it is important to be familiar with the decorative species grown in our parks and gardens (agronomists, biologists, etc.), as well as to all of the nature lovers who wish to find out more about plants they meet.
All the species in the handbook are sorted according to the families, and there is also the alphabetical list of all the plants. A full scientific name, synonyms, family, Croatian, English, and German names were specified for each species. There are also one or more characteristic photos made in various phases. Final form of the manual will be adjusted to the user so that he or she can find out the most important characteristics of each plant species that can be found in Croatia, in a very simple and understandable way.
Using the option “Quiz” it is possible to test one’s knowledge regarding the ornamental trees and bushes, which will be of great use to students in their preparations for exams in various classes they can take at the Forestry, Agronomy, and other faculties.
What is shown here is only a part of the ornamental trees and bushes, and it will be updated each year with new photographs and new species.
